Privacy
ShareShit.lol is a temporary sharing service from Ordinary Inc. This page explains exactly what we keep and for how long.
How long
Links stop accepting new viewers five minutes after upload.
Media with no active viewers is deleted by the next cleanup cycle. Media being viewed is deleted after its playback access ends.
Each viewer who opens a link in time gets playback access for the total length of the videos in the share, plus a short buffer — three minutes for photos, ten minutes for documents. A download already in progress is allowed to finish. Link previews from known messaging apps and crawlers are not given access.
Our deletion service checks expired uploads every minute. Failed deletions are retried. Uploads that are never completed are deleted within an hour.
What we store
- Your files — photos, videos and documents — sent over HTTPS and stored briefly in private storage that is never publicly accessible. Anyone with a working link can view or download them. Our servers check each file’s type to block unsafe content. We keep no archive or backup of shared files.
- Share details: a random link code, file types, sizes, dimensions, video lengths, document names, timestamps and a hashed delete code. Deleted together with the media.
- A salted, one-way hash of your IP address, used only for rate limits and abuse prevention. Kept for up to 26 hours.
Our hosting and database providers may keep routine operational logs and database backups, which can include this temporary metadata — never media files — until they expire on the provider's schedule.
What we can't control
Anyone who opens a share can screenshot, record, download or save it, and their browser may keep a temporary copy. Files are shared exactly as uploaded: details inside them — such as a photo’s location, camera info or a document’s author — are visible to anyone who opens them. Remove those details before uploading if they matter. Once something has been seen, assume it can be copied.
Advertising
Choosing Accept all shows one home-page banner from Adsterra. It may use optional cookies, device identifiers, your IP address and browser details for advertising and measurement. Before you choose, or with Necessary only, no ad loads. Shared-file pages never show ads.
The banner runs in a locked-down frame: it can’t see your files or this page, redirect you, or open new tabs. Change your choice anytime in Cookie settings; cookies already set by the ad network may need deleting in your browser.
We use necessary browser storage to remember your choice and its date. Our servers use temporary share access and security records to deliver files and prevent abuse; these do not depend on advertising consent.
Abuse reports
Reports you submit are kept so we can act on them. Contact details are optional.
